The next installment of our piecemeal conversation on race

Here we go again:
U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, a Hebron [KY] Republican, compared Obama and his message for change similar to a "snake oil salesman" [at a Northern Kentucky Lincoln Day dinner].

He said in his remarks at the GOP dinner that he also recently participated in a "highly classified, national security simulation" with Obama.

"I'm going to tell you something: That boy's finger does not need to be on the button," Davis said. "He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country."

An aide to Davis, Jeremy Hughes, declined to comment on the remark, and didn't dispute the accuracy of the quote.

It shant be long before it is either implied or directly posited that Rep. Davis' use of "boy" represents the bubbling over of underlying racial sentiments.

It will also be interesting to see how willing the Obama camp is to jump on this story. While Obama certainly has to be looking for a diversion from his "bitter" flap and the new problems with Rev. Wright, he might be a bit hesitant to jump back on the racial bandwagon. He was well out in front of the Carpentersville "monkey" story, and it ultimately backfired on him.

We'll have to wait and see...
